Members of PowerEarth’s team assisted Yarra Trams to identify and test a device to manage earthing safety and corrosion risks. This allows the MEN to be used as part of the traction substation earth when it is not possible to mitigate earthing safety risks with the local traction substation earth alone. The device manages corrosion risks by only connecting the MEN during an earth fault.
Members of PowerEarth’s team scoped and oversaw tests undertaken by TÜV Rheinland to prove the response time and voltage to 50 Hz AC, and the response to AC fault currents.
