This week one of our talented undergraduate engineers Peter Becker will be heading off to Belgium for 5 months on exchange!
At PowerEarth, we take pride in fostering an environment that not only values professional excellence but also actively supports the personal and skill development of our employees. As Peter prepares to head off, and his workload decreases, we took the opportunity to ask him a little more about his trip, and how he’s preparing. When asked about the impending exchange, Peter enthusiastically shared his excitement, before nervously adding “it’s getting very close!”.
Whilst Peter is extremely modest about his skills, and how they will develop during his overseas learning, one thing he was noticeably excited about was how he was going to have the ability to meet new people. Peter will be studying for a semester at KU Leuven in Belgium, a university that has been ranked in the top 50 of most international universities worldwide by The Times Higher Education.
When discussing how he was preparing for the trip, Peter mentioned the challenges involved in preparing to be away from Australia, and his job, long term. Peter has been working at our company for less than 6 months, and has been preparing for the trip for much longer. We asked one PowerEarth directors, Jason Styles, about Peters exchange;
We are really excited that Peter has taken the opportunity to continue his learning in Belgium. One of PowerEarth’s business partners, EnoTrac, have offices in Sweden and the UK, so he might even be able to visit them during his trip, which is a great opportunity.
We understand that the success of our business is deeply interconnected with the skills and abilities of our team members, and whilst he will be missed in the office, Peter’s personal aspirations to continue his degree overseas for a short time intertwine seamlessly with his professional development.
As Peter sets off on this exciting journey, we extend our heartfelt support and encouragement. Our office will certainly miss his presence, and we eagerly await his return, knowing that he will bring back a world of new ideas, experiences, and skills.
