URBNSURF is constructing Australia’s first surf park in Melbourne. It is supplied by two 22 kV connections. PowerEarth was engaged to assess the impact of HV earth faults on earthing related safety risks in the surf park and to quantify the hazard levels by testing the installed system.
This role considered the special risks associated with large numbers of people congregating in an aquatic centre. This included assessing ventricular fibrillation risks for individuals and large groups, and the risk of involuntary muscle contractions while in the water.
