The Melbourne Metro Tunnel is a major upgrade to the city’s rail system. It includes 9 km of twin rail tunnels, five new underground stations as well as works to integrate the new system with the existing network.
PowerEarth was engaged to complete the traction power study to inform the electrical system design for the tunnel. PowerEarth worked together with partners Enotrac to model train movements during normal and emergency operations within and beyond the tunnel section.
The work included steady state and dynamic studies.
